Apigenin – Flavonoid Profile
This flavonoid is commonly associated with an assortment of herbs and vegetables, with concentrations found primarily in chamomile but also in gingko biloba leaf and celery. A natural antioxidant, apigenin is widely used in creams, hair-conditioner and other cosmetic products, and dietitians have begun to recommend the consumption of fruit and vegetables containing apigenin to lower the risk of cancer. The medicinal properties of apigenin have been widely documented. Not only has the flavonoid been shown to be effective against cancer, it may also benefit a wide range of neuro-psychological conditions such as amnesia, Alzheimer’s and depression.
